LOS ANGELES (AP)-a gunman who walked down the middle of the road in the heart of Hollywood Friday, shooting past the car and injured the driver before police shot and killed him.
An unidentified person in a video clip, which has short hair and wearing jeans and a white tank top, was declared dead at the scene, the Los Angeles Police Officer Cleon Joseph said. No officers were hurt.
Oscar Herrera, a witness, said he saw the gunman who walked down the middle of the Vine Street near Sunset Boulevard, fired at least nine shots into the air and on the passing car while shouting "kill me" and "I'm going to die!"
But a man who caught the video from the shooter from the window of a few stories above the street can also be heard on recordings by yelling "shoot me," "kill me" and "I'm going to die."
Chris Johns, was recorded in his apartment, told KABC he attempted to distract and divert the shooter from firing anyone in its path.
